Early Childhood Specialist

 

This is a full-time regular position located in Abilene, Texas.  Salary range is $3,600 to $4,000 per month, dependent on experience.  Candidate will develop and provide training, technical assistance and mentoring to early childhood professionals to improve the quality of care in child care settings (aka early learning programs).  Candidate will coordinate with early learning programs, parents, and other agencies to increase the availability of and access to quality early learning programs across the region.

 

Individuals must meet any one of the three following combinations of education and experience:

 

1)         Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science and minimum of two years of full-time early childhood classroom experience in a child care facility, Early Head Start, Head Start or prekindergarten through third-grade school program. Transcripts are required to verify educational attainment.

 

2)         Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with at least 18 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science with at least 12 credit hours in child development, and minimum of two years of full-time early childhood classroom experience in a child care facility, Early Head Start, Head Start or prekindergarten through third-grade school program. Transcripts are required to verify educational attainment.

 

3)         Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science and two years of experience as a director or lead teacher in an early childhood program (defined as a child care facility, Early Head Start, Head Start or prekindergarten through third-grade school program), with preference given for experience with a provider that is nationally accredited or TRS certified.  Transcripts are required to verify educational attainment.
