Snyder ISD is accepting applications for a Work-Based Learning Coordinator for our High School campus during the 2019-2020 school year.  

 

Primary Purpose:  

Work-Based Learning Coordinator (WBL Coordinator) provides strategic support to the P-TECH model of Snyder High School. The WBL Coordinator will secure key industry partners in the field identified for support of the P-TECH program to provide students with authentic career-based opportunities via job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and other authentic work-based learning.   Student tracking and support for acquisition of industry-based certifications, dual credit options, and Level I and II certifications.  The WBL Coordinator will support students in the capstone experience and work with staff members to coordinate student outcomes.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification in a CTE field

Master’s degree from accredited university preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate in a CTE field, hold or willing to possess WBL Certification

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

Knowledge of career technical instruction and authentic work-based learning opportunities

Ability to interpret data and evaluate program effectiveness

Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners

Ability to work collaboratively with other experienced professionals, teachers, parents, students and other stakeholders to develop relationships to support the P-TECH model

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Self-starter and strong work ethic

 

Experience:

 

Three or more years teaching experience in CTE subject area

 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Create high quality internship, apprenticeship, and job shadowing opportunities for students

Monitor student interns on-site, complete training plans, evaluate site selection, and conduct mentor training on an on-going basis.

Leverage partners to expand their reach within the pathway’s work, including but not limited to, participating in a monthly speaker series about topics relevant to CTE and P-TECH pathways

Provide students with school-based opportunities to build their knowledge and skills related to P-TECH pathways

Assess student interest in various career options within the CTE programs of study and use this information to develop a career exploration curriculum

Facilitate career exploration sessions with pathway students through daily advisory classes

Collect and analyze P-TECH data and report findings to community partners and stakeholders

Report on major indicators to school administration, pathway stakeholders and community partners

Promote the work of the P-TECH program by publishing articles that highlight student experiences, partnership development or teacher effectiveness on the district’s P-TECH website, the Snyder High School website, and in various social media outlets

Participate in convenings and activities convened by West Central Workforce Board

Meet quarterly with P-TECH Leadership Team regarding employer participation, new partnerships, curriculum resources, and student progress

Develop and coordinate partnerships with organizations providing academic support to students

Hold quarterly meetings with community partners and the P-TECH advisory members to share information, lessons learned and opportunities for policy and/or practice changes to strengthen the program

Monitor and provide interventions for P-TECH students in order to achieve academic and career success
