Goals

  • Assist with school improvement by facilitating the planning for and implementation of high-quality instructional materials including Texas Open Education Resources (Bluebonnet Learning) and research-based instructional strategies (RBIS) as part of the Strong Foundations LASO 3 Grant.
  • Provide technical assistance to LEA's in developing strong instructional frameworks in math or literacy to guide teaching and learning.
  • Provide other supports as needed through planning, organizing, and providing professional learning, coaching, and technical assistance to teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Texas teacher certification
  • Five years successful teaching experience in math or elementary reading
  • Knowledge of research-based best practices in classroom instruction
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in providing customer service
  • Experience conducting professional development preferred
  • Skilled in using technology required to meet job requirements
  • Self-starter with the ability to make decisions and a create plan of action for implementing program goals

Performance Responsibilities and Duties

        Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the local education agency (LEA) in building an instructional framework that aligns to the math and/or literacy research-based  instructional strategies (RBIS).
  • Support LEA's in developing instructional frameworks in math or literacy.
  • Assist with diagnostics of the LEA's current state of instructional materials and instruction.
  • Support LEA's in developing instructional framework rollout plans.
  • Provide supports to LEA's in implementation of high-quality instructional materials including the Texas OER instructional materials (Bluebonnet Learning K - 5 reading, K - 5 math, 6 - 8 math and Algebra I).
  • Provide technical assistance to LEA's in developing instructional materials transition plans.
  • Plan and organize content-specific professional learning sessions for teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to facilitate successful implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).
  • Evaluate the extent to which objectives have been met to determine future goals and objectives.
  • Model effective instructional practices for teachers and administrators.
  • Support other initiatives within Region 14 Education Service Center as needed.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary dependent upon years of educational experience, Pay grade 2
  • 11 or 12-month contract

Position Details

  • Position funded by federal grants and contracted services within the Region 14 service area
  • Supportive and positive work environment
  • Frequent travel within Region 14 service area and occasional statewide, overnight travel required
  • Reports to Tina Wyatt, Director for Certification and State Initiatives
