Goals

  • Articulate the Texas vision for strong district and Educator Preparation Program (EPP) mentorship for pre-and early-service teachers
  • Increase beginning teacher effectiveness and retention
  • Understand how ESCs will redeliver the Texas Mentorship Training and coaching available to them from US PREP and TEA
  • Facilitate collaboration between districts and vetted EPPs to develop paid high-quality, sustainable teacher residencies through Texas Strategic Staffing

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required
  • Texas teacher certification with five years successful teaching experience required
  • Experience in school administration required
  • Experience conducting professional development to adult learners required
  • Certified T-TESS appraiser (or willingness to obtain) required
  • Experience working with pre and early-service teachers preferred
  • Background with Texas Instructional Leadership (TIL) preferred
  • Knowledge of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) and Research-Based Insrructional Strategies (RBIS) preferred
  • Background in Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) preferred

Performance Responsibilities and Duties

Job duties are not limited to those listed below.

  • Attend the Texas Mentorship Training series and participate in ride-alongs to see US PREP deliver the Texas Mentorship Training to districts, which will include both in and out-of-region travel.
  • Receive coaching and utilize feedback to ensure effective redelivery of the Texas Mentorship Training
  • Earn certification to redeliver the Texas Mentorship Training through Trainer-of-Trainer modules and performance tasks
  • Internalize the Texas Mentorship Training content and redeliver training to Districts and EPPs.
  • Attend Texas Strategic Staffing training
  • Facilitate Strategic Staffing model design process and implementation with district leadership, campus-level teams, and EPPs
  • Recruit LEAs and EPPs to receive training in Texas Mentorship and Texas Strategic Staffing
  • Support other initiatives within the CCSI, which might include Teacher Incentive Allotment, Strong Foundations LASO 3 planning and/or implementation grant, or occasionaly supervising alternative certification teacher interns.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary dependent upon years of educational experience, pay grade 2
  • 11 or 12-month contract or will consider part-time

Position Details

  • Frequent statewide overnight travel required for training purposes and frequent daily travel within Region 14 expected
  • Reports to Tina Wyatt, Director for Certification and State Initiatives
