Workforce Career and Education Outreach Specialist
The Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board, in partnership with Region XIV Education Service Center, is seeking to hire a Workforce Career and Education Outreach Specialist for the 2020-2021 school year as part of a pilot program to provide career information to students, parents, and district personnel within the Board’s 19 county region. Candidates will equip public middle school and high school students (6th-12th grade) with information and resources to make informed decisions about their educational and employment pursuits through classroom presentations and other related activities.
This is a full-time exempt position that is supported by a grant currently scheduled to end after the 2020-2021 school year, but there is a possibility of extending. The salary for the position is $3,750/month plus a benefit package. The Region XIV Education Service Center serves as the employer of record for the Workforce Development Board staff. Employees will participate in the Teacher Retirement System.
Candidates must have a degree from an accredited four-year college or university; preferably in the field of education, counseling, social-work, or a related field of study. At least two years of experience is preferred in education, youth training or workforce development programs with direct interaction with youth. Travel throughout the region is required; however, overnight travel is minimal.

Training for these positions will take place in Abilene throughout the summer as well as approximately one week of required training in Austin. During the school year, the Workforce Specialist will be primarily working on the campuses of participating school districts. This position could serve any of the following school districts: Roscoe Collegiate ISD, Hamlin ISD, Throckmorton ISD, Roby ISD, Trent ISD, Snyder ISD, Stamford ISD, Paint Creek ISD, Ira ISD, Colorado City ISD, Westbrook ISD, Loraine ISD, or Abilene ISD
