Assistant Director

Contract Length: 12 month (226 days)

Salary Range: $84,000 - $102,000

Duties:  75% Administrative

                25% Special Education Direct Services

Tri-County SSA serves 10 small districts north of Abilene, Texas.  The primary duties of this employee are to assist the  Executive Director of Special Education in providing special education leadership at the district level, ensuring that the district adheres to Special Education policies and legal guidelines. 

The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, ensuring clear and effective interaction with all  parties involved. Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for collaborating with diverse groups and fostering a respectful and cooperative environment. The position requires the ability to analyze and interpret data with precision, as well as a solid understanding of relevant federal and state special education laws and policies. A key responsibility will be to handle conflicts and complex situations efficiently, retaining a professional demeanor under pressure. The candidate should also be knowledgeable about instructional programs for students with disabilities to ensure their educational needs are addressed. Having strong technology skills is helpful for efficiently managing educational tools and resources, and would be a favorable attribute. The position does include providing training to small and large groups at various times during the year.

 

The applicant must be able to fill two job types: 1) Administrative Duties, and 2) Some other special education service provided by Tri-County SSA (LSSP, LPC, Diagnostician, OT, PT, VI Teacher, Speech Therapist).  The design of this position is that the employee will fill two critical roles for the SSA.  The majority of time will be spent on administrative duties.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

Masters Degree in Special Education or related field, required.

Texas Mid-Management, Supervisor's Certificate in Special Education or Principal's Certificate, preferred.
