We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated general maintenance technician to join our team at Breckenridge ISD. You will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and operational campus for our students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily outside tasks, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, mowing, edging, building repairs, maintaining equipment, some painting, trash removal, and potentially some cleaning if needed.
- Ensure that all areas of the school are maintained in a sanitary and orderly condition, adhering to established cleanliness and safety standards.
- Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Support the setup and cleanup of school events, meetings, and functions as required.
- Maintain and restock custodial supplies and equipment to ensure they are readily available for use.
- Collaborate with fellow custodial staff to ensure efficient completion of cleaning duties.
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols while handling cleaning chemicals and operating cleaning equipment.
- Maintain a positive and friendly attitude while interacting with students, staff, and visitors.
- Bus driving duties preferred and bus driving will pay a an hourly rate.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Proven experience in custodial work or related cleaning services is a plus.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and the safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects when necessary.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- A commitment to maintaining a clean and organized school environment to support the educational mission of the institution.
- Able to operate landscaping equipment.
- Able to work outside in cold and hot temperatures.
Working Conditions:
This position operates primarily during school hours but may require some flexibility in scheduling, including occasional weekends and evenings to accommodate school events. Custodians and maintenance engineers may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and need to adhere to safety protocols while handling them. The role involves physical activities, such as walking, standing, lifting, and carrying equipment and supplies.
