The Board of Trustees of the Sweetwater Independent School District, Sweetwater, Texas invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The Board is seeking candidates with profound knowledge of education and the skills to lead a team of high-quality professionals and support staff to make a positive difference in the lives of the students served. This is a demanding position that will require a dedicated, hardworking leader of the highest quality and moral character. The new superintendent must be involved in all aspects of the educational and community life in the Sweetwater School System.
Sweetwater ISD serves approximately 2,158 students. The students are taught and supported by 369 employees, 187 certified teachers and 118 support staff. The district’s facilities include Sweetwater High School, Sweetwater Middle School, Sweetwater Intermediate School, East Ridge Elementary School, Southeast Elementary School, and J.P. Cowen Early Childhood Center.
The vision statement of the Sweetwater Independent School District is: “Sweetwater ISD leads in providing a relationship focused environment that empowers students to realize their potential. We embrace diversity, equip for the global environment, and encourage responsible citizenship.” This vision statement is supported by an operating budget of $22,040,756. The dedicated staff continually works to ensure that students have the resources and support needed to be successful. The district strongly emphasizes academics but recognizes the importance of enrichment programs, technology, arts, and extracurricular activities.
The Board of Trustees will offer a competitive salary and benefits package which will be determined by experience and background of the candidate.

- Initial Round of Interviews March 4-6, 2020
- Follow up Interviews March 23-27, 2020

- A minimum of three recent letters of reference
- Copy of your Texas superintendent certification
- Copy of all transcripts indicating degrees
