The Behavior Specialist supports students, staff, and families by developing and implementing behavioral strategies and intervention plans that foster student success in educational settings. This role focuses on promoting positive behavior, reducing challenging behaviors, and supporting inclusive practices aligned with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and district-wide goals.

Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) based on data and observations.

Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to implement and monitor behavior plans.

Provide training and coaching for staff on behavior management strategies and positive behavior supports (PBIS).

Assist in crisis prevention and intervention planning; support de-escalation procedures as needed.

Collect, analyze, and report behavioral data to monitor student progress and adjust interventions.

Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions regarding behavioral supports.

Consult with mental health professionals, school psychologists, and outside agencies when appropriate.

Support the implementation of district-wide behavior support frameworks.

Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including IDEA and Section 504, related to behavior services.
